How To Satellite Dish Parabola Parabola Word Problem?

Parabola word problem? - how to satellite dish parabola

A satellite dish antenna with a section is a plate with 6 m diameter and 1 m deep in the middle. To what extent is the center of the center of the plate. Answers 1 / 36 feet, but no idea how to fix ...

First, we must remember that the equation of a parabola is open to, is in the xy-plane and has its peak (0,0): x ^ 2 = 4PY

P Here is the distance between the top (ie the middle of the plate) for the development. Furthermore, the approach must always be on the symmetry axis.

If the plate is 6 feet wide and 1 m deep, and assume that the upper () ie the plate center is (0,0), then the parabola through the points (3, 1) and (-3 , 1), because the parabola is symmetric axis (the line x = 0 is the axis of symmetry since the acquisition (0.0) is the vertex of the parabola and) open up in the XY plane.

Now we can solve for p by replacing one of the points (3,1):
4P (1) = (3) ^ 2
Therefore, p = 9 / 4

This means that the emphasis will be placed at (0, 9 / 4). Are you sure it's 1 / 36?

The cross section of the antenna has the formula
y = (1 / 9) x ^ 2 ^ 2 = 4px
p = 1 / (4 * 9) = 1 / 36

Standard form of a parabola is
(xh) ^ 2 = 4p (yk)

where the top is (h, k), Focus (H, K + P) and p is the distance from the top-down development.

We have 3 tickets for our knowledge:
In the middle of the parabola (0.0)
The two banks (-3.1) and (3.1) [since we know that the diameter is 6, and the depth is 1].

Thus, our corner (0,0) is
x ^ 2 = 4PY
3 ^ 2 = 4P (1)
9 = 4p
p = 9 / 4

x ^ 2 = 4 * 9 / 4 and
y = x ^ 2 / 9

The aim is to (0, 9 / 4)
